Santander reports customer, employee data breach in Spain, Chile, Uruguay
MADRID (Reuters) -Spanish bank Santander said on Tuesday some data of its customers in Spain, Chile and Uruguay, as well as those of its current and former employees had been the target of unauthorised access in a database hosted by a third-party provider. Without elaborating further on the breach, Santander said it also established additional fraud prevention controls to protect the affected customers. Its banking operations and systems were not affected, Santander said, adding that customers could continue to transact securely and that no data on transactions, nor any credentials that would allow to perform transactions were stored in the database.
