Transitioning from one job to another does not have to be a difficult experience. Making sure you leave your current place of employment on a positive note is certainly possible. If you are writing a formal resignation letter, remember these tips to ease the process:

  • Talk to your immediate supervisor privately and tell them of your intentions. This is the informal way to give your notice.

  • Write a formal resignation letter once you have talked to your supervisor.

  • Resignation letters do not have to be long. But, use this opportunity to express and recount all the positive opportunities and experiences you have had while working with the company.

  • Stay away from anything negative. Now is not the time to complain.

  • Don’t forget to say thank you.
