Why are all these celebs saying they don’t wash?

If you've been on the internet at all in the last week you're probably wondering why the heck everyone's suddenly taken an interest in how often our fave celebrities shower. Surprisingly though, it turns out the answer to that question is not a lot.

Over the past few days, celebs including Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell have admitted that washing really isn't on their daily to-do list, igniting what we're going to call #celebrityshowergate.

Speaking to actor Dax Shepard on his podcast Armchair Expert, Mila said "I don't wash my body with soap every day." Her husband Ashton Kutcher then added "I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever."

The comments sparked other celebrities to weigh in on the topic, with Dax's wife Kristen also admitting she's "a big fan of waiting for the stink."

"Once you catch a whiff, that's biology's way of letting you know you need to clean it up," Kristen said. Similarly, fellow Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal told Vanity Fair that more and more he finds "bathing to be less necessary."

But other celebrities didn't agree, and took to Twitter to let fans know about it. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson tweeted: "Nope, I’m the opposite of a 'not washing themselves' celeb. Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin’. Shower (warm) after my workout before work. Shower (hot) after I get home from work."

Game of Thrones' star Jason Momoa also shared his thoughts on the topic. "I'm not starting any trends. I shower, trust me," he told Access Hollywood last week.

But the topic of celebrities not washing isn't totally new, in fact even the likes of Julia Roberts have been known to embrace the stink. A few years ago the Pretty Woman star admitted that in a bid to be more eco-friendly she doesn't shower every day. She also revealed to Oprah that she doesn't use deodorant either. "It’s just never been my thing," she told the TV presenter.

Roberts isn't the only actress who said adios to deodorant. Actress Cameron Diaz told E! News that she hasn't used deodorant for two decades. "I don't believe in antiperspirant. It's really bad for you. I haven't used it for almost 20 years," she said, "You're stinky, because you use antiperspirant. It keeps all the stink in."

Each to their own we guess!
