Virtual reality film of Anne Frank's story confirmed

Virtual reality film of Anne Frank's story confirmed

A virtual reality film which will take viewers inside Anne Frank's secret annex has been confirmed reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The possibly controversial new film, "Anne", will tell the story of Anne's experience inside the annex whilst hiding from the Nazis during World War II.

The film's technology will give viewers the chance to be "immersed in the presence of Anne Frank", allowing them "to move about a room ... and sense the moment in a way never possible before VR."

Those behind the movie also promise to recreate the attic "with photorealistic visual fidelity."

Commenting on the project, which could be open to criticism due to the sensitive nature of the topic, writer-director Danny Abrahms said, "Anne Frank's story has kept the memory of the Holocaust alive and promoted tolerance for generations. We are deeply committed to sharing Anne's experience using cutting-edge modes of storytelling so that her story can live on and reach as many young people in the world as possible."

Last year The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam introduced a 360-degree VR tour for visitors with disabilities and mobility problems so they could access the attic virtually from the museum's cafe..
