Sribu Expands its Service Globally Starting Today

Sribu.com, a startup from Indonesia which offers crowdsourced designs, is expanding its service to reach the rest of the world starting today. The company accepts crowdsourced design projects ranging from T-shirt designs, to brochures, and even calendars. With over 65,000 design submissions, and around 16,000 designers on its network, Sribu promises to offer lower price rates compared to other crowdsourcing platforms, boasting a relatively high rate of 145 designs per contest. It also claims that its community of local Indonesian designers have proven track records in producing top quality designs which resulted in 98 percent customer satisfaction. In addition, Sribu recently introduced a new feature that will help its clients to buy additional designs at half price through its platform. Ryan Gondokusumo, the CEO of Sribu, said that it has gotten a lot of request from clients who would like to buy additional designs from their projects, but they don't want to spend a lot on the additional ones. To do this, for example, a client of Sribu who has a $250 project ongoing can get second/third design at a $125 price. This is a win-win solution for both clients and designers. Regarding the company’s expansion abroad, Ryan added:

I choose to state global in my announcement to let the global market know that they can use Sribu now and there is no limitation whatsoever for them in terms of language barrier and payment system, so organically we hope people in US/Europe will use our service. While moving forward, our main marketing and penetration focus will still be in the regional market, I hope this clarifies the move we made. The primary reason why we go regional is to expand our channels and get more clients. Our business model gives us the flexibility to scale easily. The local market is huge but it will take more time and education to get them familiar with the [concept of] crowdsourcing.

Ryan also tells me that it will raise more funds in the next six months. To help with the company’s expansion and global reach, it is working together with Veritrans as its payment gateway. Veritrans will be launched sometime soon in Indonesia with Sribu as one of its few initial partners. With a team of eleven, the startup has been funded by East Ventures [1] early this year and plans to expand its team as it serves a larger market.
