Software stocks drag Sensex to 2-1/2 week closing low

MUMBAI (Reuters) - The BSE Sensex and the Nifty fell on Wednesday to mark their lowest close in 2-1/2 weeks as software stocks slumped on caution ahead of India's top IT services provider Tata Consultancy Services' (TCS.NS) quarterly results later in the day.

TCS provisionally fell 2.9 percent, Wipro (WIPR.NS) lost 2.7 percent while Infosys (INFY.NS) slumped 3 percent.

The Sensex provisionally closed 0.92 percent lower, while the Nifty lost 0.88 percent, marking their lowest close since March 27.
