SM Energy: 4Q Earnings Snapshot
DENVER (AP) _ SM Energy Co. (SM) on Wednesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $102.1 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Denver-based company said it had a loss of 90 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 4 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 10 cents per share.
The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $451.7 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $410.2 million.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $187 million, or $1.66 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $1.59 billion.
SM Energy shares have decreased 18% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $9.26, a decline of 51% in the last 12 months.
