Singtel and NUS to launch cybersecurity startup hub in April

It will provide trainings and cybersecurity resources to help startups internationalise.

Singtel Innov8 and National University of Singapore (NUS) Enterprise will launch the Innovation Cyber Security Ecosystem at Block 71 (ICE71) next month.

ICE71 will provide cybersecurity startups with access to working space, cybersecurity trainings and events, and enterprise-grade cybersecurity resources such as Singtel’s cyber-range to allow testing and building proof-on-concept solutions in a virtual environment.

“Through ICE71, we aim to nurture and groom suitable Singaporean and foreign cyber security startups to help bring their ideas to life. With our combined resources, we can help these startups fine tune and market their cybersecurity solutions globally,” said Edgar Hardless, CEO of Singtel Innov8, in a press release.

ICE71 is supported by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and the Infocommunications Media Development Authority (IMDA). Minister for Communications and Information Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim noted that cybersecurity is fast growing sector in Singapore and has the potential to generate $900m revenue by 2020.

To capture this opportunity, ICE71 teamed up with London-based Cylon to provide startups with a range of open learning platforms and three initial programmes – namely Inspire, Accelerate, and Scale – to help them expand their business abroad.

Firstly, Inspire is a five-day pre-accelerator bootcamp for researchers, students and aspiring entrepreneurs to test and qualify cyber security business concepts.

Secondly, Accelerate is a three-month accelerator programme to equip early stage startups with financial, business structure and market strategies to progress their business.

Lastly, Scale is a landing pad programme which is designed to provide market access to allow growing global and local startups expand their business to other countries in the Asia Pacific region.

ICE71 will be located at Block 71 Ayer Rajah Crescent.
