Singapore travellers can use DBS, OCBC apps to pay in Thailand
SINGAPORE — Singaporeans going to Thailand can now scan QR codes and make payments using DBS PayLah! and OCBC Pay Anyone apps at more than eight million retail acceptance points across popular tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket.
UOB TMRW users will be able to do so as well from next year.
This comes after Singapore's Network for Electronic Transfers (Nets) and Thailand's National ITMX expanded their cross-border QR payment collaboration to facilitate inbound and outbound payments between both countries.

Starting 4 August, Singaporeans shopping at places such as Chatuchak, MBK, Platinum Mall, and various bazaar markets can look out for the PromptPay QR code. They can use the DBS PayLah! or OCBC Pay Anyone app to scan the QR code, confirm the merchant name, the amount to be paid in baht, view the exchange rate, and pay the final amount in Singapore dollars.
Singapore travellers can also purchase BTS Skytrain tickets via PromptPay QR at ticketing kiosks.
"Having a QR payment option with competitive exchange rates will increase convenience for shoppers as they no longer need to worry about having cash on hand," NETS group chief executive, Lawrence Chan, said.
Local merchants can accept payments from Thai travellers who can now make QR payments by scanning any NETS QR code using apps or e-wallets of participating banks. The banks include Bank of Ayudhya, Bangkok Bank and Krungthai Bank.
As a result of the collaboration, NETS merchants spanning across 120,000 acceptance points in Singapore will be able to accept cashless payments from participating Thai banks or e-wallets.
NETS merchants in Singapore are already able to accept WeChat Pay and Bhim QR payments; BCA, RuPay and MyDebit bank cards as well as e-wallets participating in Alipay+ solutions.
