Singapore taxi & ride-hailing fees revision: How much more do you need to pay?
Based on recent announcements, here are all the taxi and ride-hailing fare-related changes you need to be aware of.
SINGAPORE — The cost of rides on taxis and private hire vehicles will soon rise.
For instance, taxi company ComfortDelGro will be introducing a platform fee of 70 cents per ride booked on the CDG Zig App from 1 July 2023.
The company's announcement on 19 June was one of several fare-related changes made recently by other taxi companies and ride-hailing platforms, including Gojek and Tada who both announced the extension of their temporary driver's fees.
One-off increases in distance and waiting-time fares for taxi rides have also been extended by another 12 months until 30 June 2024. These hikes were first introduced in April 2022 in an effort to help drivers and taxi companies cope with the cost of soaring petrol prices at the time.
Here are the changes in fare-related fees that passengers can expect from each company:
Gojek
Platform fee from 3 July 2023: Ranges from S$0.10 less to S$0.30 more per trip, following a tiered structure based on factors including distance travelled and duration.
Extension of driver's fee from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$0.50 for trips less than 10km and S$0.80 for trips beyond 10km.
Trip start fare on GoCar Premium from 3 July 2023: Increase by S$0.45 per trip or S$6.45 per trip between 12am and 5:59am.
Trip start fare for GoCar XL and GoCar XL Kids from 3 July 2023: Increase by S$0.30.
Tada
Platform fee: S$0.55 for trips up to S$18 and S$0.75 for trips that cost more.
Extension of driver's fee from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$0.50 for trips up to S$18 and S$0.80 for trips that cost above S$18.10.
ComfortDelGro
Platform fee: S$0.70 per ride booked on the CDG Zig App. Fees will not apply for rides booked via phone calls or text messages, or for street hails.
Extension of temporary fare hike from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$0.25 for every 400m thereafter or less up to 10km, and every 350m thereafter or less after 10km.
Extension of temporary waiting-time fare hike from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$0.25 for every 45 seconds of waiting or less.
Extension of temporary fare hike for premium cab from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$0.34 for every 400m thereafter or less up to 10km, and every 350m thereafter or less after 10km.
Extension of temporary waiting-time fare hike for premium cab from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$0.34 for every 45 seconds of waiting or less.
Extension of temporary location surcharge for Changi Airport from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$8 between 5pm and 11.59pm and S$6 at all other times.
Extension of temporary location surcharge for Mandai from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024: S$3 between 1pm and 11:59pm.
