Singapore Airlines to bid farewell to its first Airbus A380

It’s not extending the lease after it expires next year.

It is a blow to Airbus’ sales expansion plan, but Singapore Airlines already decided it will no longer extend the lease on its first Airbus A380 jet when the contract expires October next year.

Reuters reported that Singapore’s flag carrier was the first to fly the world’s largest airliner in 2007. Its first Airbus A380 is one among five units that are on a 10-year lease with options to extend.

Singapore Airlines will announce on a later date its plans on the other four Airbuses.
