Silicon Labs: 2Q Earnings Snapshot
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Silicon Laboratories Inc. (SLAB) on Wednesday reported a second-quarter loss of $16 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Austin, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 37 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax expenses and stock option expense, were 83 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 74 cents per share.
The chipmaker posted revenue of $206.7 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $206.6 million.
For the current quarter ending in October, Silicon Labs expects its per-share earnings to range from 79 cents to 89 cents.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $213 million to $223 million for the fiscal third quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $223.6 million.
Silicon Labs shares have risen 36% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased slightly in the last 12 months.
