Shell to sell Singapore refinery, petchem assets to Chandra Asri and Glencore
SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Shell said on Wednesday it has agreed to sell its refinery and petrochemical assets in Singapore, Asia's main oil hub, to a joint venture between Indonesian chemicals firm Chandra Asri and Swiss miner and commodities trader Glencore. Reuters reported last August that Shell had hired Goldman Sachs to explore a potential sale of its refining and petrochemical plants in Singapore as part of a broader strategic review globally to become a lower-carbon operator.

China's Country Garden aims to pay missed coupons by next week
HONG KONG (Reuters) -Embattled Chinese property developer Country Garden said it was unable to pay two onshore coupons due on Thursday, but China Bond Insurance Co would do so on its behalf if it missed paying within a grace period that ends next week. Such a move would be the first time the state-owned company has come to the rescue of an issuer under a Beijing-led programme launched in 2022 to bolster investor confidence, and analysts warned it could make future issuance harder. Country Garden, which defaulted on its $11 billion of offshore bonds and extended other onshore bond repayments late last year, said in a filing it was unable to pay onshore coupons due on Thursday, though it was still trying to raise funds.

Singapore's DBS appoints Ping An Technology CEO as chief information officer
Singapore's biggest bank DBS Group said on Wednesday that it has appointed Ping An Technology's chairman and CEO Eugene Huang as its chief information officer (CIO) effective Friday. Huang, who is joining from Ping An Group, has over 36 years of technology and banking experience and will report to DBS Group CEO Piyush Gupta in his new role, DBS said in a statement on Wednesday. "His immediate focus will be to build on the work the bank has done since last year to strengthen our technology resiliency," Gupta said in the statement.

STORY: An exclusive report for Reuters has found Huawei’s latest high-end phone features more Chinese suppliers than ever before. This includes a new flash memory storage chip and an improved processor, highlighting the progress China is making towards technological self-sufficiency. Online tech repair company iFixit and consultancy TechSearch International scrutinised the inside of Huawei’s Pura 70 Pro on behalf of Reuters. They found parts including a memory chip they said was likely packaged by the Chinese giant's in-house chip unit HiSilicon. These findings have not been previously reported, and Huawei declined to comment.Some memory chips for earlier models had been made by South Korea’s SK Hynix.Now Huawei’s resurgence in the high-end smartphone market after four years of U.S. sanctions is being watched closely as it has become a symbol of U.S.-China trade tensions. Huawei launched the Pura 70’s four smartphone models in April, and they quickly sold out.Analysts say it will likely take more market share from iPhone maker Apple, leaving Washington to question the efficacy of its curbs on the Chinese telecoms equipment giant.
