San Francisco’s biggest tech employer just opened a space where select startups can work for free

When Salesforce announced a new $50 million fund in June, it also disclosed that it would open a new startup workspace in downtown San Francisco.

The new space, called the Salesforce Incubator, finally opened on Wednesday. Located in San Francisco’s SOMA district, where a lot of startups open shop these days, Salesforce Incubator will house 14 startups for the next 5 months for free.

Salesforce, which happens to be San Francisco’s largest tech employer, sent us these pics of the new space. Check it out:

Salesforce Incubator is an office space for startups picked by Salesforce.

These startups don’t pay anything to use the space. Salesforce doesn’t take any equity or investment commitment from these startups either.

The only requirement is to be a company building cloud software on top of Salesforce’s app-building platform.

That’s Ludo Ulrich, head of startup relations at Salesforce.

And this is KG Charles-Harris, the CEO of Quarrio, one of the 14 startups chosen to work out of the incubator.

The main benefit for startups working here is that they get help from Salesforce accessing its vast ecosystem partners, including resellers and consultants. It’s part of Salesforce’s effort to expand its community.

And that’s Astro, the mascot for Trailhead, Salesforce’s learning platform. Expect to see Astro all over Dreamforce, the big annual conference by Salesforce next week!
