Roberto Cavalli announced as Pitti Uomo 94 special guest

Roberto Cavalli creative Paul Surridge

The Roberto Cavalli Group is returning to Florence for Pitti Uomo.

The luxury Italian label is set to present its new menswear collection -- the first designed by the brand's new creative director Paul Surridge -- as a special guest at the upcoming event this June.

"The Roberto Cavalli brand was born in Florence and it is only natural that its relaunch goes through this city," said Gian Giacomo Ferraris, CEO of the Roberto Cavalli Group, in a statement published on the Pitti Immagine website. "Growing menswear is a significant opportunity for our business: Paul's talent, vision and experience in the context of Pitti Uomo are the perfect platform for its development."

Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine, added that the brand's return to the trade show "marks the return of one of the champions of Italian style, one of the names that made Florence the world capital of fashion, and -- at the same time it is the moment for highlighting a new phase for the brand led by the design talents of the new creative director."

British creative Surridge has headed up the Roberto Cavalli brand since May last year, following the brand's acquisition by Italian equity fund by Clessidra SGR in April 2015.

The unveiling of the new collection will not be the only special event at this summer's edition of Pitti Uomo, the menswear tradeshow that runs twice per year. A new exhibition dubbed "Evolution - Involution - Revolution: Three Decades of Men's Fashion as Seen by Stefano Pilati," is also set to open during the event, shining the spotlight on the modern history of menswear.

Pitti Immagine 94 will run June 12-15. For more information, see http://www.pittimmagine.com
