Exclusive-Shell in talks to sell Malaysia fuel stations to Saudi Aramco, sources say
SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Energy giant Shell is in talks with Saudi Arabia's state-owned Saudi Aramco to sell its gas station business in Malaysia, the second-largest such network in the country, four industry sources aware of the discussions said, and a deal could be worth up to $1 billion. Shell said Malaysia is important to the company. Saudi Aramco declined to comment on Monday.

China's COMAC to expand Shanghai C919 plane factory as orders grow
China's COMAC is expanding production facilities for its homegrown C919 jets in Shanghai, according to one of the project contractors, as the state-owned planemaker ramps up manufacturing to fulfill hundreds of new orders. China Aviation Planning and Design Institute (Group) Co. Ltd. (AVIC-CAPDI), a state-owned provider of aviation planning and construction services, said on its WeChat account at the end of April that the company had "recently won the bid for the second phase of the C919 large passenger aircraft batch production capacity construction project". AVIC-APC said the project was in Pudong, Shanghai, and had a total construction area of 330,000 square meters.

Chinese tariffs could leave cognac makers with too much brandy
High Chinese tariffs on EU brandy would leave French companies with vast amounts of cognac that could be hard to sell elsewhere, according to Reuters' calculations, analysts, and investors who fear firms could be forced to discount. China opened an anti-dumping investigation into brandy imported from the European Union in January, sparking fears cognac could suffer a similar blow to that taken by Australian wine when China introduced tariffs of up to 218.4%. Australian wine exports to China, worth $1.1 billion in 2019, were almost completely wiped out by high tariffs.

UPDATE 2-Amazon to spend nearly $9 bln to expand cloud infra in Singapore
Amazon.com plans to spend S$12 billion ($8.88 billion) over the next four years to expand its cloud computing infrastructure in Singapore, Amazon Web Services (AWS) said on Tuesday. The investment adds to the S$11.5 billion the company has already invested in the Asia Pacific Region till 2023, bringing its total planned spend to more than S$23 billion by 2028, AWS said in a statement. Southeast Asia's top leaders are scrambling for a bigger slice of the global tech pie, with Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore hosting Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in December, and Apple CEO Tim Cook visiting Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia last month.

Toyota Motor is expected to get a big lift from demand for hybrids when it reports annual earnings on Wednesday, illustrating how the world's top-selling automaker is poised to benefit as hype around battery electric vehicles cools. But the forecast record results, to be helped in part by a boost from the weak yen currency, belie the considerable challenges it faces in critical markets. In China it is pressured by a ferocious price war and in the U.S., the fallout from consumers grappling with higher borrowing costs.

Petrobras loads diesel from Reliance on crude tanker in India after delay
Brazilian energy major Petrobras has loaded diesel from India on board a Suezmax crude oil tanker after a month-long delay, according to shiptracking data and trade sources, the first such shipment from India in more than a year amid volatile freight rates for clean product tankers. The conversion of a crude oil tanker to carry clean products enabled Petrobras to ship bigger volumes of diesel from Asia at lower costs, with Asian sellers also seeking demand outlets outside this region, the sources said. The larger shipments will likely ease downward pressure on an oversupplied Asian diesel market and create a price floor for the current market, the sources said.

India's Reliance renews bid for US license to import Venezuelan oil, sources say
Indian oil refiner Reliance Industries has resubmitted a request to the U.S. for an authorization to import crude oil from sanctioned Venezuela, three people close to the matter said, and resume oil trade between the OPEC producer and the once second-largest destination for its oil. French oil producer Maurel & Prom separately on Monday said the U.S. on Friday granted it a license to conduct oil and gas operations in Venezuela for the next two years.
