Hello! And welcome to your daily dose of royal-related news, also known as a light-hearted distraction to the ongoing pandemic and politically relentless year that 2021 is already shaping up to be. Such japes! But yes, back to the royals... as this time it's none other than Sarah Ferguson, also known as Fergie (no, not the one of Black Eyed Peas fame), or the Duchess of York, has a rather exciting new project in the works.

Said project? A rather saucy-sounding book, Her Heart For A Compass, set to be published by Mills and Boon (an offshoot branch of Harper Collins, known for being producing many an old school 50 Shades of Grey-type book, featuring corsets, daring ankle-flashing and I dunno, horses serving as metaphors for being 'well hung'? Or whatever it is that nostalgic naughty reads are choc-full of?).

Sharing a video of herself in retro garments, Fergie posted her news on social media, writing, "I'm delighted to announce my first historical romance novel, Her Heart for a Compass, which will be published in August! Set in the nineteenth century, this is a coming-of-age story about being brave and rebellious, and daring to follow your heart against the odds."

She added, "The story itself is based on one of my ancestors and I’ve spent the last couple of years doing my own research into my family history with the help of the royal archives. As a result the book is rich in detail of the Victorian era and draws on my own life journey and experiences too – so it is a story very close to my own heart."

On that note, sorry, just a quick reminder – the Duchess of York was previously married to the now-somewhat-disgraced Prince Andrew (who, for legal reasons I need to write, has denied ever having any wrongdoing through his friendship with convicted sex offender millionaire, Jeffrey Epstein).

Many of Sarah's 309,000 Instagram followers have reacted positively to the news and commented that they looked forward to reading her latest work. One account, which is a tribute to the Duke and Duchess of York's eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, wrote, "Excited for you Mummy Sarah ! Will be one of my summer must-read list for sure ! 😍❤️."

Another said, "Congratulations dear Duchess! 💕 As a great lover of Victorian Age I can't say how thrilled I am. Really looking forward to reading it, and I really hope it will be available on digital format too. 😉 "
