A new image of Prince George of Cambridge has been released by the Royal Family to mark his 8th birthday on 22 July.

The picture was shared on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Instagram account. George can be seen with a beaming smile in an adorable striped polo shirt, posed on top of a Land Rover. His mother, Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is credited as taking the picture. "Turning eight(!) tomorrow," the image was captioned when it was posted on 21 July.

George looks happy and relaxed as he smiles for the camera, with fields and flowers being seen behind him. Fans immediately commented on how much the young Prince looks like his father, Prince William, and we can certainly see the resemblance.

It has also been suggested that the lovely picture includes a tribute to George's late great-grandfather; Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The Queen's late husband regularly drove Land Rovers and had a passion for engineering; so many are seeing the background of this image as a way of remembering the much-loved Duke.

What's more, fans of Royal fashion will be thrilled to hear that George's Polo Shirt is a John Lewis option, costing just £10. Sadly, it's sold out in the colours that the Prince wears, but you can still buy it in blue and lemon.

Happy Birthday, Prince George!
