Philippine central bank to conduct maiden securities offer in Q3 - governor

MANILA (Reuters) - The Philippine central bank's maiden securities issuance is scheduled for the current quarter, broadening its monetary policy toolkit, its governor said on Wednesday.

"The main purpose for the issuance of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas securities is to manage the liquidity in the financial system to support monetary policy transmission," central bank Governor Benjamin Diokno told reporters.

The central bank will initially offer a small volume of securities with short-term maturities in line with market preference, Diokno said.
