Paris menswear week: day one highlights

After London and Milan, fall/winter 2018-2019 menswear collection previews continue in the French capital, where men's fashion week runs until January 21. Palomo Spain kicked off the Parisian shows under rainy skies, followed by Namacheko and GmbH.

Palomo Spain opened Paris menswear week with an extravagant collection channeling a nature theme. Designer Alejandro Gomez Palomo crafted pieces that blur the boundaries between menswear and womenswear, borrowing endless inspirations from traditionally female wardrobes. The result was a collection featuring crop tops, thigh boots and plunging necklines.

There was a more classic vibe at Namacheko, where mainly dark, muted colors were joined by touches of green and mustard yellow. Coats come in long cuts or experiment with asymmetrical shapes, and a selection of snug winter pieces bring warm, soft materials to winter 2018.

In the last show of this opening day, the GmbH collective brought an electric atmosphere to the runway, with shiny fabrics and sportswear inspirations.

Paris men's fashion week continues, Wednesday, January 17, with shows from Valentino, Heider Ackermann and Off-White.
