New Singapore SkillsFuture report lists 24 skills that will grow in the next two years
All 24 skills reside in the digital, care and Industry 4.0 economies.
SINGAPORE — A total of 24 skills predicted to grow in demand and transferability over the next two years were identified in the third edition of the Skills Demand for the Future Economy report published by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
The report, released on Friday (17 November), tracked the changes in demand and transferability for priority skills in the care, digital and green economies based on job posting data from 2012 to 2022. It is also the first time the SSG has attempted to forecast job skills, and the demand and transferability of the 24 identified "priority" skills were analysed based on job postings over four calendar years from 2019 to 2022.
All 24 forecasted skills were in the digital and care economies, as well as job roles in Industry 4.0 – which refers to the digital integration of traditional manufacturing and industrial processes. The report noted that no prominent skills from the green economy came through from the analysis, as green trends were more "reasonably recent", and many green skills were "nascent" and only starting to emerge.
