With new world-class sport hubs such as the OCBC Aquatic Centre and Arena, refurbished ActiveSG sporting complexes available in the heartlands, Singapore is teeming with sports facilities available to the public for recreational and community use. #1 Football and Futsal

ActiveSG

Locations: Various schools, stadiums, fields, futsal centres and street soccer courts throughout Singapore. The full list can be found here.

#2 Ice Skating

Kallang Ice World (Kallang Leisure Park)

Opening Hours:

Sunday to Thursday: 10am – 10pm

Friday, Saturday and Eve of Public Holidays: 10am – 12 midnight

Public Holidays: 9am – 10pm

Fees: There are no set session times, so how much you pay depends on how long you intend to stay in the rink. Make sure to manage your time well, because staying longer than intended will incur overtime charges of $4 (per child) 5 (per adult) an hour.

The Rink (JCube)

With an Olympic-size ice-skating rink, complete with a spectator gallery, the Rink is arguably the most popular of the three best known skating rinks in Singapore.

Location: JCube Level 3

Opening Hours:

Sunday to Thursday: 10am – 10pm

Friday, Saturday and Eve of Public Holidays: 10am – 12 midnight

Public Holidays: 9am – 10pm

Facilities: Skating boots, gloves, socks, skating aids and lockers are available. If you bring your own gloves and socks, you will be able to save $4.

#3 Water Sports (Canoeing, Kayaking, Pedal Boating & Dragon Boating)

Water Sports Centre at Singapore Sports Hub

With a wide variety of water sports, such as kayaking, canoeing, pedal boating and dragon boating, the Water Sports Centre is open to all, and rents out their boats on a walk-in basis.

If you are looking to dip your toes in the sport to try things out, the Water Sports Centre has orientation programmes available for kayaking and dragon boating, as well as personal skill award courses for canoeing.

Mondays to Sundays: 7am to 8pm

Public Holidays: 7am to 10pm

Facilities: Boat rentals for kayaking, canoeing, pedal boating and dragon boating. Conducted on a walk-in basis only, which means no reservations are allowed.

People’s Association Water-Venture Centres

Water-Ventures (WVs) are a platform initiated by the People’s Association, for the community to bond together through adventure and water sports. Like the Water Sports Centre, WVs have plenty of courses and activities for kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, dragon boating, power boating, sea rafting, bell boating and pedal boating.

Note: Not every type of boats are available at every WV, and some boats may require certain certification (e.g. 1 Star Certification is required for closed deck canoes).

• Sea: Changi, East Coast, Pasir Ris, Sembawang

• Reservoir: Bedok Reservoir, Lower Seletar Reservoir, PAssion WaVe @ Marine Bay

Note: Lower Seletar WV currently operates as a satellite training centre. Public rentals are only available on Wednesday (2pm to 6pm), Saturday and Sunday (7am to 7pm).

#8 Rockclimbing

Onsight

Location: 100 Guillemard Road

Opening Hours:

Mondays and Fridays: 11am to 10pm

Tuesdays to Thursdays: 11am to 11pm

Weekends and PH: 10am to 9pm

Facilities: Bouldering walls, lead and speed climbing walls. Climbing equipment available for rental.

Concession rates apply to students aged 20 and below, MOE teachers, NSFs and SIA staff, before 6pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays.

Climb Central

Location: Kallang Wave Mall, 1 Stadium Place, B1-01

Opening Hours:

Weekdays: 11am to 11pm

Weekends and Public Holidays: 9am to 9pm

Facilities: No certification is required to climb more than half of the 46 available lanes at Climb Central. There are 13 auto-belay lanes available.

Fees: Children have to be at least 5 years old, weigh more than 20kg, with a minimum height of 1.1m.

While this list is not exhaustive, do note that the value of each sporting facility will vary according to your sporting abilities, time spent and skill level.
