MIT to build S$50m BTS facility

by Cheryl TayMapletree Industrial Trust (MIT), a Singapore-focused real estate investment trust (Reit), will develop a Build-To-Suit (BTS) facility for its existing tenant, Kulicke & Soffa (K&S).

The trust said in a release that JTC Corporation has allocated a site at Lot 17622A Pt Mukim 18 for the BTS development. The proposed site is located close to mature estates and within proximity of several established industrial estates in the northeast region of Singapore. It can also be easily accessed through major expressways.

Meanwhile, the BTS facility will be a five- high specification light industrial building with a total gross floor area (GFA) of around 30,800 sq m. The project has a total development cost of S$50 million, and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2013.

In addition, (K&S), an international company that specialises in the design and manufacture of semiconductor and LED assembly equipment, will lease 69 percent of the net lettable area (NLA) for a period of 10 years, with an option to renew for two additional 10-year terms.
