SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - M Social has announced its opening of M Social Suzhou in an April 26 press release. The 294-room luxury hotel is the brand’s first property in China.

M Social is the lifestyle brand of global hotel group Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR), a unit of listed developer City Developments (CDL). The brainchild of MHR’s executive chairman Kwek Leng Beng, M Social was first launched in 2016 to cater to a “young, brave and social-media savvy” crowd.

The M Social brand is about creativity, connection, and exciting possibilities, says Kwek Leng Beng, executive chairman of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels. He notes that Suzhou was selected as the location for the hotel given its identity as “Venice of the East”. This is due to its quaint water canals and bridges around the city.

“The hotel is designed to reflect this vibrant juxtaposition. It offers guests a fresh and luxurious experience with state-of-the-art technology and our bespoke M Social service,” he says.

With the opening of M Social Suzhou, the brand now has five locations worldwide. M Social’s other locations are in Singapore, Auckland, New York and Paris. It also has a virtual office, M Social Decentraland. This offering makes the brand the first hospitality group to enter the metaverse.

Located in Hong Leong City Center (HLCC), M Social Suzhou is part of Suzhou Industrial Park. The Park is a China-Singapore cooperative high-tech park aimed at driving innovation with emerging, high-end industries. HLCC is an integrated development by CDL China.

M Social Suzhou is near the prime location of Jinji Lake. It is adjacent to developments such as Times Square, Jiu Guang Department Store, Eslite Spectrum and Ferris Wheel Park. Furthermore, it is a short walk away from Suzhou International Expo and Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre.

M Social Suzhou’s interiors are designed by architect KCA International. The design aims to foster an “inclusive and relaxed environment” for guests. There is a custom-made brass floor, inlaid with the pattern of a garden path, which guides guests to the elevators. Dynamic electronic art screens and changing light effects in the hotel create a “rich visual experience” while showcasing the hotel’s personality.

The hotel’s decor conveys an aura of “industrial chic” in its lower-level and sky lobbies. Located on the 25th floor, the sky lobby features an open layout featuring cloud-pattern panels, a concrete-framed chandelier and exposed metal grills.

Ranging from approximately 431 sq ft to 4,402 sq ft, all of the hotel’s 294 guestrooms and suites have views of Jinji Lake and the Eastern Gate of Suzhou. Furthermore, the hotel’s 4,402 sq ft “Mega Cool Suite” has a 270-degree view of Jinji Lake.

Other amenities at M Social Suzhou include a 7,836 sq ft ballroom, a 12,917 sq ft fitness centre, a swimming pool, a spa, and three restaurants and bars.

According to MHR, the opening of M Social Suzhou signals a move for future expansion into the Greater China region. Going forward, MHR also plans to grow the brand in more locations including London, New York, Sunnyvale, Phuket and key cities in the Middle East.
