Mexico: 8 nights from $4,189 per person

Arrive in Mexico City, which placed fourth in the Best Cities in Mexico and Central and South America. A private guide and driver will provide a transfer to the luxurious St. Regis Mexico City, which won for the Best City Hotel in Mexico, for a two-night stay in a deluxe room. Set on the Paseo de la Reforma, the St. Regis has amenities including an indoor pool, butler service, and La Table Krug, an intimate French restaurant. Note: Breakfast is included throughout the trip, as are transfers and guides. Unless otherwise noted below, all other meals and alcoholic drinks are at an additional cost.

Today you will get a taste of Mexico Citys dynamic and fascinating culinary scene. You will be picked up at the St. Regis by two local chefs and driven to La Roma neighborhood and Mercado de Medellin for a guided tour. Sample just-baked Mexican tortillas, made from traditional Nixtamal dough, and watch vendors sell everything from fresh fish to Colombian coffee. After selecting some of the ingredients the market has to offer, youll walk to Casa Jacaranda, a beautifully restored mansion, for a hands-on cooking lesson. Enjoy a three-course meal paired with top-notch Mexican wines and a tasting of mezcal before being driven back to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon and evening are at your leisure.

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the St. Regis for a car transfer north to the colorful, historic city of San Miguel de Allende, which won for the Top City in Mexico and Central and South America and was rated the third-best city in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage site, San Miguel de Allende embraces both old and new, with its incredible colonial architecture and thriving artistic scene. Your home base: the hacienda-style Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, which placed seventh in the Best Resorts in Mexico, in a Colonial room for three nights. The rest of the day and evening are at your leisure.

Today, your private guide will bring you by car to the Institute of Culture in Bellas Artes to see local students working on their art. On the ground floor of Bellas Artes you'll find exhibit galleries, the dance studio, the ceramics studio, and the Caf Las Musas. Along the north wall of the cloister, in a space that once housed the nuns refectory, is an unfinished but striking mural by Davd Alfaro Siqueiros, the noted Mexican muralist. You will also be able to witness artisans weaving rugs in a traditional home and blowing glass sculptures in a workshop near downtown San Miguel de Allende. Time permitting, your guide will take you past murals done by local artists including David Leonardo Chaves.

Capital One Cardholder Experience: A driver-guide will take you to the La Gruta hot springs, which are famous for their thermal waters. Take advantage of the many pools, and stay for up to three hours. Food and drinks are available for purchase. This can be booked at any time during your visit to San Miguel de Allende, though Black Tomato suggests you do this on the afternoon of Day 4.

Todays itinerary includes a morning walking tour of San Miguel de Allendes colorful historic center, where you will stop at the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel, a Neo-Gothic cathedral. At noon, your guide will drive you outside of the city center to Dos Buhos (Two Owls) winery for a tour of the property. Over 10 different grape varieties, including Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc, grow here. Sample five of Two Owls standout wines and savor a gourmet picnic meal underneath one of the propertys lovely mesquite trees. After lunch, you will be driven to the Botanical Gardens, home to many rare and endangered native plants, for a guided tour. Afterward, youll return to the hotel and have the rest of the evening at your leisure.

After breakfast, you meet your guide for the drive to Guadalajara, which placed eighth in the Best Cities in Mexico and Central and South America. En route to this design-centric, buzzy city, you will visit the Plazuelas archaeological site. In Guadalajara, your home base will Hotel Casa Fayettea Travel + Leisure It List Winner in 2016for a two-night stay in a Balcony room.

Today, your driver-guide will take you to see some of the architectural highlights in the city, including the Hospicio Cabaas, a hospital complex built in the 19th century; the Cathedral of Guadalajara; and one of the many projects of famous architect and native son Luis Barragan (subject to availability). The rest of the day and evening are at your leisure to explore Guadalajaras charming streets and cultural hubs.

Enjoy one last morning in Mexico before your private car transfer from the hotel to the airport.
