MBAs' favorite jobs (Hint: They're not always on Wall Street)
PepsiCo (NYSE: PEP) is the top-rated company for job satisfaction among students of MBA programs, according to Poets & Quants, a blog that caters to business school applicants.
To be sure, it's a small sample size, with only 10 respondents vouching for Pepsi, Poets & Quants reports. Still, with a score of 8.7, Pepsi beat out Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) among the total pool of 1,500 current and recently graduated MBAs working full-time or interning at 32 companies. Other top performers included ZS Associates, Barclays, 3M (NYSE: MMM), Credit Suisse, Facebook (NASDAQ: FB), PwC Advisory and Fidelity Investments.
Interns from Pepsi and Apple told Poets & Quants that they had experiences and access that wasn't typical for interns, making them feel like valued members of the team. Indeed, factors like intimate environments and healthy work-life balance tended to have a strong correlation with the ratings, according to Poets & Quants data, supplied by TransparentMBA, a Glassdoor for MBAs.
Poets & Quants certainly isn't alone in spotting trends among high-skilled workers. For instance, professional staffing agency Robert Half found that healthcare and time off are the most important in determining job satisfaction.
