Maxeon Solar sues REC Solar for patent infringement

April 19 (Reuters) - Solar panel maker Maxeon Solar Technologies said on Friday it had initiated a patent infringement lawsuit in Texas against REC Solar Holdings AS.

The lawsuit alleges infringement of Maxeon's patents related to TOPCon solar cell technology.

Singapore-based Maxeon had filed a similar lawsuit against solar technology firm Canadian Solar last month.

It had also filed a lawsuit in a German court in November last year against Shanghai Aiko Solar and its subsidiaries, alleging the Chinese company of violating its European patent for solar cell architectures.

"Intellectual property infringement sits alongside injurious dumping and subsidy-driven excess global production capacity as an unfair trade practice that distorts markets and tilts what should be a level playing field for global solar manufacturing," said Marc Robinson, Maxeon's Associate General Counsel.

REC Solar did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
