Matthew McConaughey has teased his plans to wrestle with WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment)

Speaking on the Better Together podcast, the actor told host Maria Menounos that he found the prospect of entering the ring “interesting”.

“I’ll say not too much because as you know, you can’t say too much about these things, but it is something that interests me,” he said.

The 51-year-old was recently seen in attendance as part of WWE’s virtual audience on 27 October, cheering on champion Drew McIntyre as he fought The Miz.

Following his recent comments, a WWE article concluded: “Could his next encounter with WWE Universe come inside the squared circle?”

The Oscar winner opened up further about his love of professional wrestling and said that his three children – who are seven, 10 and 12 years old – are also fast becoming fans.

“I love the suspensions [of] disbelief because my kids and I watch and they’re starting to get that when they go, ‘Oh this is fake,’” he said. “I’m going, ‘What are you talking about? No way!’”

Recalling a conversation he had with wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson, McConaughey said: “The Rock was telling me his story, about his storyline from good guy to bad guy, and how he felt it click in one night while he was there like, ‘Oh I just hooked him.’”

This is not the first career change-up McConaughey has teased recently. In November last year, the Dallas Buyers Club star revealed that he is also considering a career in politics.
