Manufacturing output jumps 13.1% in June

Thanks to the stellar performance from electronics and biomed segments.

The volatile biomedical manufacturing reported a strong performance in the month of June, boosting overall manufacturing output to 13.1%.

According to the latest figures by the Singapore Economic Development Board, the electronics cluster’s output increased 25.5% in June 2017. Compared to the same month last year, on the other hand, the biomedical manufacturing cluster’s output grew 18.3%.

The chemicals cluster’s output increased 9.4% on a year-on-year basis in the said month, with all segments registering output growth.

It was also positive for the precision engineering and the transport engineering clusters, growing 5.3% and 4.6% respectively.

Out of all the segments, only the general manufacturing industries reported a decline in output, down 5.3%.
