M1 has best 4G connectivity, StarHub worst: IDA survey

M1 topped the charts with 43.7 Mbps.

A survey by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) showed that M1 has the best 4G connectivity among all three telcos.

The survey showed that M1's average 4G data download speed was the fastest at 43.7 Mbps, followed by Singtel with 43.2 Mbps and StarHub at 40.5 Mbps.

M1's 4G service also had the shortest response time to establish a local connection. M1 users took an average of 35.4 milliseconds to establish a connection, a far cry from 50.9 and 53.5 milliseconds for Singtel and StarHub, respectively.

The survey also showed that telcos are still enhancing 4G service coverage, with most participants limited to coverage signal strength of about 3 signal bars.

The survey collected information from over 50 million data points collected from over 4,000 users across Singapore through the MyConnection SG app.
