Contributing to breaking down the stigma of speaking about mental health, Destiny's Child star Michelle Williams has bravely shared an audio recording of herself speaking with her best friends about the struggles she has experienced.

And those best friends happen to be bandmates Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Kelly Rowland.

Sharing the audio file on Instagram on Wednesday, Williams explained why she caught up with her longtime friends ahead of the release of her upcoming memoir, Checking In: How Getting Real About Depression Saved My Life — and Can Save Yours. She also opened up about her depression and how she eventually sought help.

To stress the importance of checking in with your loved ones, Williams recorded her conversion with her bandmates, who were all in their separate kitchens, cooking and laughing together.

In the conversation, Williams candidly discussed how she hid her struggles from her bandmates over the years. Along with the audio, Williams released a previously unseen recent photograph of herself with Beyoncé, Rowland and her baby boy, Noah.

'It's ok to not be ok and to tell somebody you're not ok. I should have done that with y'all... I never was really truthful about how I really was,' Williams said.

'Kelly and I are so honoured that we are now your safe place where you can express everything and anything,' Beyoncé replied to Williams, before Rowland told her bandmates that the best thing Destiny's Child gave her was their lifelong friendships and bond.

Williams has opened up about her mental health struggles before, disclosing that she entered a treatment facility for depression in 2018.

'So proud of you, Mimi,' Beyoncé added in the video. 'You are so inspirational for both of us. We just love watching you become exactly who you are and the world see your impact, wisdom and beautiful advice. We're just so proud of you.'

Destiny's Child, forever!
