Kristen Stewart's highly-anticipated Princess Diana movie Spencer has landed a UK cinema release date.

The film, which has been getting rave reviews since its premiere earlier this month, is set to land on British and Irish big screens at the same time as the US on November 5, it has been confirmed.

Spencer sees Stewart portray the late icon, and follows the pivotal moment that the Princess of Wales decided to leave her husband Charles (Jack Farthing).

"The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold," the official synopsis reads. "Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen's Sandringham Estate.

"There's eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. Spencer is an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days."

Reviews have praised the movie, DiscussingFilm calling Stewart's performance "without a doubt her most dazzling and intricate" so far, while Screen Daily said the film offers "an empathetic, intelligent insight into the prison of fame and privilege".

Directed by Pablo Larraín, Spencer also stars the likes of Sean Harris, Sally Hawkins and Timothy Spall.

Stewart previously opened up about how the film will portray Diana's trauma, explaining earlier this year: "Spencer is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life.

"It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name; Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her."

Spencer will be released in US and UK cinemas on November 5, 2021.
