Article updated on 29/11/22: In October we learned Kate Middleton will be hosting a special royal carol service at Westminster Abbey to mark Christmas this year.

It was noted the Princess of Wales, whose first carol service was in 2021, will honour the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen, who passed away on September 8.

Now, it's been revealed the princess is asking the public for help with the carol concert, set to air on Christmas Eve.

The mother-of-three is asking for help selecting the final carol for this year's service.

Good Morning Britain created a poll via Twitter, asking fans to vote for their favourite carol, from three options - either 'Hark! The Herald', 'Joy To The World or O Come', or 'All Ye Faithful'.

The tweet read: 'The Princess of Wales would like your help to choose the final carol for this year's Together at Christmas service at Westminster Abbey, broadcast on ITV on Christmas Eve.'

Following the post, royal fans have wildly reacted, with one writing: 'I think the Queen would have liked Oh Come, All Ye Faithful.

Another commented: 'Love them all! Really looking forward to this. I chose “oh come all ye faithful” (Although I prefer the Latin version) but now have Joy to the World earworming around my head! [sic].'

A third remarked: '"Joy to the World", because it's faster paced, more uplifting and joyful.'

Earlier this month, Middleton, who held her first carol service at Westminster Abbey in 2021, shared details about the upcoming event.

She shared timelapse video of a beautiful invite created by illustrator Aurelie Baudry Palmer.

In an accompanying caption she wrote: 'A date for your diary this December. And you can join us for this very special Carol Service @ITV on Christmas Eve.'

Article updated on 8/10/22: Kate Middleton will celebrate Christmas this year by hosting a special royal carol service at Westminster Abbey.

On December 15, the Princess of Wales' service will mark the life and legacy of Her Majesty, The Queen, who died on September 8, aged 96.

Kensington Palace announced the event, which is supported by The Royal Foundation and comes two years since the Duchess of Cambridge's first carol service, on Twitter earlier this week.

A statement from the palace read: 'The carol service will celebrate and showcase the joy that human connection can bring: forging friendships and strengthening communities, creating legacies of humility and kindness, whilst also providing relief and comfort in times of difficulty or loss.

'The service will combine both traditional and modern elements, reaching people of all faiths and none.'

The service will be aired on ITV, and feature carols performed by the abbey’s choir. Other royal family members, charity workers, volunteers and armed forces personnel will be in attendance.

Middleton's first carol service at Westminster Abbey in 2021 saw her joined by her husband, Prince William.

The event honoured people and organisations who helped their communities during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the now-princess even gave a surprise piano performance.

Kate Middleton will host a Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, so if ever there was a time to perfect your ‘Fa la la la la, la la la la’, it’s now.

On Tuesday, Kensington Palace confirmed the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband, Prince William, are organising a festive evening, which will take place on Wednesday, December 8.

The event, organised in conjunction with the couple’s Royal Foundation, aims ‘to recognise and celebrate the incredible work of individuals and organisations across the nation who have stepped up to support their communities through the pandemic’.

To announce the news, the couple shared a photo of the invites being sent out to the public on their Instagram account.

'The event will look back on the last eighteen months, to think not only of the unprecedented challenges that we have all faced as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, but also to remember the positives: people and organisations pulling together in their communities, the small acts of kindness across different demographics and generations, and the unsung heroes who stepped up to help others,' an excerpt of the post's caption reads.

The cream-coloured invite is printed with the couple’s monogram in gold at the top.

Guests at the concert will include members of the public who are involved in community initiatives, charity work, education, the armed forces and the NHS.

People reports that the concert will raise money for several charities, including NHS Charities Together, which supported the health service during the health crisis.

The festive evening will see guests sing along to carols performed by the Westminster Abbey choice, and hear readings and musical performances by a variety of unconfirmed guests. The service will be broadcast on ITV in December.

It’s unknown whether the Cambridges’ three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – will attend the service, but given Carole Middleton’s recent comments about the trio’s favourite Christmas decorations, we have a feeling the siblings won’t want to miss out on the fun.

News of the carol service comes days after it was reported the Queen is planning to host Christmas at her home in Sandringham this year with the royal family, which will mark the first time it’s been able to come together during the festive period due to Coronavirus restrictions preventing individuals from gathering in groups of more than six last year.

It’s believed Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Archie and Lilibet will remain in Montecito, California for Christmas after moving Stateside in March 2021.
