On a 2021 episode of Kevin Hart’s talk show Hart to Heart, John opened up about his views on aging. He recalled then-10-year-old Benjamin asking him what it felt like to be in his 60s.

“I said, ‘You know what, Ben? I can’t believe it. I can’t believe I’m in the last chapter of my life. I can’t believe it,’ " he told Hart. “I’m like, eternally 21. I don’t understand being in my 60s!”
