ICE July raw sugar delivery at around 503,000 tns, says exchange

NEW YORK, July 1 (Reuters) - Deliveries of raw sugar on the expiry of the July contract on ICE U.S. exchange reached 9,904 lots, or around 503,000 tonnes, according to official data released on Friday by the exchange.

The ICE data is only 7 contracts larger than the numbers circulated among traders on Thursday, when they saw the delivery reaching 9,897 contracts, or a little more than 502,000 tonnes.

ICE said that all the sugar delivered against the July expiration is of Brazilian origin and the whole volume is set to be loaded at the port of Paranagua, South of Brazil.

Louis Dreyfus Company was said to be the largest receiver of that sugar with 5,128 lots, or around 260,000 tonnes, according to the traders, while commodities trader Viterra was seen as the largest deliverer with 4,528 lots, or 230,000 tonnes.

Brazil's Raizen, which is a sugar producer, and Asian trader Wilmar International were also seen as receivers of smaller amounts of sugar.

The delivery was not large considering previous volumes for the July contract such as in 2019 when more than 41,000 lots were delivered, a record for that month. Last year the number was small at only 2,587 lots.
