Hollyoaks' John Paul McQueen gets horrifying death news

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks' John Paul McQueen has been told that his partner George Kiss has died.

John Paul learned in Tuesday's E4 episode that his boyfriend had been killed in the line of duty, hours after they'd had an argument where George called their relationship "broken" in another attempt to manipulate him.

The latest instalment opened with John Paul waking up in Ste's bed, realising that they'd gone home together in his drunken state after kissing the night before.

"We didn't, did we?" he asked.

Ste promised that he'd never "take advantage" of John Paul while he was drunk, but wanted him out of the house before Leah and Lucas saw him.

John Paul begged him to never tell George what had happened, saying: "If you care about me at all, just forget this ever happened."

Later, Ste opened up to James Nightingale about his fears for John Paul, wondering if he needed their help. The teacher then arrived back home to find a furious PC Kiss, and desperately lied that he'd been staying in a hotel.

"All that matters is that I'm back, and I love you," John Paul insisted. "I just want to fix things between us."

After demanding John Paul take a shower because he "smelled like a pub floor", the copper called up the hotel John Paul claimed he'd been staying in to prove he'd been lying.

George then confronted John Paul, telling him he'd found out that the hotel had been closed since October for refurbishment.

"If you think I'm stupid enough to believe your stupid, pathetic lies... I want to know right now: who were you with last night?" George demanded.

When John Paul urged him to "take some responsibility" for his temper, George snapped back: "Don't talk to me about responsibility. I go to a job every day where I could be killed."

George insisted "there was nothing left to fix" between them since John Paul had lied to him, then stormed out. The detective then manipulated his police partner PC Smith, making it seem as if John Paul was the one gaslighting him.

After texting John Paul that he loved him and needed space, the two cops were called to an altercation between four males.

Later, John Paul went out to find George when he was approached by PC Smith, who told him that George had been killed while responding to the violent incident.

John Paul struggled with the news as the episode came to an end.
