Helen Mirren in talks to join 'The Nutcracker'

Actress Helen Mirren

Actress Helen Mirren looks set to join the cast of "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms," the forthcoming Disney retelling, reports Variety.

Mirren would join Keira Knightley, Misty Copeland and Morgan Freeman, as well as Mackenzie Foy in the role of Clara.

The film's storyline will be based on the 1816 classic by E.T.A. Hoffman, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King," where Clara's Nutcracker doll comes to life and battles the evil Mouse King.

Ashleigh Powell has written the script for the upcoming film, with Mark Gordon producing.
