HDB to conduct roadshows at all BTO projects

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) will now hold roadshows for all new Build-To-Order (BTO) homeowners, following a year-long pilot, reported Today Online.

Dubbed MyNiceHome Roadshow, the initiative, which was introduced last September, aimed to help homeowners learn more about their new estate while providing them an opportunity to meet future neighbours and learn renovation tips as well as advice on home maintenance before moving into their new homes.

To date, HDB has conducted 24 roadshows, with the latest being held on Sunday (27 August) for West Crest @ Bukit Batok homeowners.

For the first time, the roadshow included a Heartland Familiarisation Bus Tour, in which homeowners learn where the key facilities are in their estate.

Launched for sale in May 2014, West Crest @ Bukit Batok includes 495 residential units spread across three blocks. Once completed by end-2017, homeowners can look forward to various amenities such as a cafeteria as well as an education centre in a commercial block, which is also part of the development.

Notably, 10 more roadshows are set to be conducted this year. They are generally held around three to six months prior to the completion of a BTO project and are co-organised by the People’s Association along with its grassroots organisations.

HDB revealed that homeowners who attended the roadshows found the session useful. In fact, seven in 10 learned new home design and renovation advice, while eight in 10 said the roadshows provided them a better ideal of the transport network and amenities within their estate.

“Overall, the roadshows have helped to familiarise flat owners with their new homes and neighbourhood, while strengthening neighbourly ties from the onset,” added the HDB.
