SINGAPORE — Grab will ditch its stand-alone GrabFood app in favour of folding its on-demand food delivery service into its main app.

Limited testing of the new GrabFood experience on the Grab app will start initially in the Kallang, Marine Parade, Geylang and Bedok areas from end-April before an islandwide beta launch in May, the company said on Tuesday (April 16).

Grab will also be integrating the GrabFood service into its main app in Malaysia, starting with a beta-test in Kuala Lumpur on 17 April.

“This will make for a more seamless user experience and put us in a strong position to drive the multi-billion-dollar food-delivery market forward,” said Lim Kell Jay, head of GrabFood Singapore and co-chief of staff at Grab.

GrabFood has become the fastest-growing business unit within Grab in less than a year since its introduction last May. From last May to March 2019, orders grew 25 per cent month-on-month on average, Grab said.
