Experts shed light on Jurong Gateway master plan

Last Saturday, PropertyGuru held the first of a series of Guru Talk seminars for 2015 on the Jurong Gateway Master Plan, focusing on the effects it will have on Singapore's property market.

Around 70 people attended the seminar to listen to expert speakers Dr Tan Tee Khoon, Executive Director, Residential Services at Knight Frank, and Eugene Lim, Key Executive Officer, ERA Realty.

During his talk, Dr Tan mentioned that the vision for Jurong Gateway and Lakeside areas will see 360ha of land developed to make it the biggest lakeside destination for business and leisure in Singapore.

this is the vision for a regional centre and this particular regional centre as a whole has 360ha in it; this is the size of the Marina Bay area. It features two particular precincts, the Jurong Gateway which has a vibrant 70ha of commercial space, and Jurong Lakeside, which is a further 290ha of space for waterfront leisure destination. This is going to be (the) biggest lakeside destination for business and leisure... he said.

Delving further into the effects the master plan will have on the precinct, Dr Tan brought up the point that areas in and around Jurong Gateway will benefit greatly.

When there is such an unusual, splendid growth story in the Jurong Lake District, particularly, the Jurong Gateway, it (property prices) will definitely burst at the seams and it will overflow to the regional areas he shared.

Separately, ERA's Lim spoke about what residents living in the midst of this transformation can expect.

He said aside from the location's tranquility away from the city's hustle and bustle, the unique proposition of private residential projects within Jurong Gateway such as Waterfront@Faber, is they provide the convenience to nearby business, leisure and transport amenities.

Meanwhile, attendees at the talk revealed they were well educated on the topics presented, and having such seminars will increase their knowledge of the property landscape in Singapore.
