PARIS (Reuters) - French state-controlled utility EDF has been notified of a 24-hour strike starting at midnight at its 3,600 megawatt (MW) Blayais nuclear power plant, it said on Tuesday.

The company said in a statement that the strike at the plant in southwest France could affect power production. It gave no further details.

The Blayais nuclear plant has four 900 MW reactors. Its reactor number 2 is currently offline for planned maintenance and refuelling until April 21.

A separate strike at EDF's hydropower sites on Tuesday cut French electricity generation by 2,200 MW.
