Eagle Materials: Fiscal 3Q Earnings Snapshot

DALLAS (AP) _ Eagle Materials Inc. (EXP) on Tuesday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $114.6 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Dallas-based company said it had a loss of $2.77 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.51 per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.57 per share.

The maker of gypsum wallboard and cement posted revenue of $350.2 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $354 million.

Eagle Materials shares have increased slightly more than 2% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 27% in the last 12 months.
