The Duchess of Cornwall sat down with ITV Racing to discuss the Royal Family’s historic love of horses and of horse racing, to mark the first day of this year’s Royal Ascot.

The Duchess spoke about the Queen’s connection to horses and the sport in particular, during what she described as “the most special week” of Royal Ascot which the Queen enjoys so much.

“This is her passion in life and she loves it, you can tell how much she loves it,” Camilla said of the Queen. “She can tell you every horse she’s bred and owned, you know, from the very beginning. She doesn’t forget anything. I can hardly remember what I bred a year ago.”

ITV Racing's Oli Bell said that when speaking with Her Majesty about horse racing it is “genuinely breath-taking how much she knows.”

Camilla agreed, saying the Queen is, “encyclopaedic about her knowledge”

The Duchess of Cornwall has been spotted at Royal Ascot this week in a stunning pastel blue hat and dress, which has a striped design resembling ribbons. Camilla even matched her face mask to the dress during the event, which she attended alongside Prince Charles.
