Could Uber save ComfortDelGro's crashing taxi segment?
Earnings from taxis could fall to 5% next year.
ComfortDelGro's (CDG) potential partnership with Uber could reduce the decline of its taxi business, Maybank Kim Eng said.
The bank said CDG securing Uber's rental car business and its ride-booking platform should "prove positive."
The number of pooled cars is close to leading operator Grab's 25,000 rental cars and 10,000 non-CDG cabs.
CDG's reliance on taxis should decline significantly.
Maybank Kim Eng said the contribution of taxis to its earnings could fall from 12% to 5% in 2018.
