Walgreens disappoints, Dow trades on NYSE, UGI makes acquisition

Here are the companies Yahoo Finance is watching today.

A big miss at Walgreens (WBA). The company came up short on earnings and revenue last quarter and slashed its guidance to roughly flat. The CEO blames "consumer market challenges" and pressure over reimbursements.

The big unwind of DowDupont (DWDP) is reaching a major milestone. Dow (DOW) starts trading today on the New York Stock Exchange as a separate company, and it will also be part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The new company will be focused exclusively on material sciences and plastics.

UGI (UGI) is buying almost 70 million shares of AmeriGas Partners (APU) for $2.44 billion. Analysts expect the deal to increase UGI's cash flow by roughly 15% by 2020. UGI's CEO said the merger "maximizes value for both companies and our respective stakeholders, as we will be better positioned to invest and grow."

Microsoft (MSFT) is joining forces with BMW to create an open manufacturing platform. The cloud technology partnership seeks to enhance innovation, improve production efficiency and accelerate the development of 'smart' factories. This comes a week after Volkswagen and Amazon Web Services announced a similar deal to connect the automaker's plants.

Tesla (TSLA) is set to pay $31,000 to settle hazardous waste violations with the EPA and purchase $55,000 in emergency response equipment for Fremont, California. The EPA said Tesla failed to comply with air emissions standards and management of hazardous wastes in a 2017 inspection. Tesla said all gaps identified in the inspection have been resolved.
