Companies to Watch: McCormick posts beat, PayPal makes push into China, Netflix renews ‘Stranger Things’

Investors seem to be liking the taste of spice maker McCormick's (MKC) latest quarter. The company posted a profit beat and boosted its outlook driven by strong results in the Americas and Asia Pacific regions. However, sales came up a little shy. Still, the CEO says they are set to deliver another year of profitable growth.

PayPal (PYPL) is making a push into China. The online payment company has attained a license to provide digital payment services in China after it acquired a majority stake in a Chinese payments company. PayPal says this will make the company the first foreign firm licensed to provide digital payment services in China.

Netflix (NFLX) has announced the renewal of its hit show “Stranger Things,” teasing season 4. The news comes as the show’s creators, the Duffer brothers, have reportedly signed a nine-figure, multi-year deal with Netflix, to create films and new series. It's another big bet for Netflix as the service ramps up its content offerings to remain competitive in the increasingly crowded streaming space.

Levi’s (LEVI) is teaming up with Google to make another smart jacket. The jean retailer is building a Jacquard by Google into some of its jackets. The tag tucks into the jacket sleeve and will connect to your smartphone using bluetooth. It will be able to tell you the time, weather, traffic, and alerts you if your forgot your phone. The jacket starts at $198 and launches this fall.

Facebook (FB) has announced that opinion and satire will be exempt from its new fact-checking policy. The company says that posts deemed opinion or satire won't be labeled as false, even if information in the post is found to be inaccurate by its fact-checkers. Last week, Facebook announced it will continue to exempt politicians from fact-checks.
