Chart of the day: Check out how offshore REITs’ returns impressively surged

It has delivered 30% on total return basis.

The city-state's real estate investment trusts (REITs) have been performing in the overseas markets, with offshore REITs achieving the best performance among Singapore financials, both in medium and over the long term.

According to a Jefferies report, offshore REITs have delivered 30% on total return basis in contrast to 2.4% return for STI index and 14% return for Strait Times REIT Index.

These offshore REITs include CRCT, Fortune REIT, Ascendas India, Croesus, MAGIC and Lippo Malls Trust.

"Over the last three years, offshore REITs have annualized 16% total return versus -0.8% for the market index and 7% for the REIT index. Offshore REITs, in our universe, include REITs with entire asset base outside of Singapore," the report said.
