Caterpillar's big beat, Lionsgate up for grabs, Whirlpool's weak forecast

Let’s check out the Yahoo Finance charts of the day.

Caterpillar (CAT): Shares are pushing higher in early trading, up around 1%. Earnings and revenue easily beat street estimates, and Caterpillar’s 2018 EPS forecast topped expectations.

Whirlpool (WHR): Shares slipped in early trading but are now reversing. The home appliance maker reported mixed results, beating on profit but missing on revenue.

Lionsgate (LGF-A): Shares are climbing in midday trading. The studio’s vice chairman made comments indicative that it would be open to a deal with a number of suitors, stating it’s “open” to consolidation.
