SINGAPORE – Former British prime minister Boris Johnson and ex-US vice president Dick Cheney are set to speak at a blockchain conference in Singapore in December.

Johnson is lined up to be the keynote speaker on 2 December at the International Symposium of Blockchain Advancements (ISBA), which is organised by blockchain technology company ParallelChain Lab. The event will be held at the InterContinental Singapore.

Johnson is "globally renowned for his passionate leadership on education, technology and infrastructure", the organiser said in a press release on Monday (31 October). "His policies are designed to drive investment, creativity and allow innovation to flourish in the UK and around the world," ParallelChain Lab said.

Meanwhile, Cheney, the 46th Vice President of the US, is scheduled to participate in a keynote session on the opening day of the conference on 1 December.

ISBA, said the organiser, "aims to guide the migrating path to the digital economy by cutting through the technology hype and impart a realistic view of the technical and business blueprints". It is designed to become an open dialogue platform for those who have been and who are interested to be involved in the blockchain world.

Blockchain is best known as the technology behind cryptocurrency, but it can also be used to record transactions by relying on decentralised network of computers. ParallelChain Lab, a blockchain-as-a-service provider that integrates high performance with the features of censorship-resistance, stated that ISBA is free from commercial, financial or political influence.

Other speakers at the symposium are coming from several institutions, including Carnegie Melon University, CBS, ETH Zurich, Insignia, Altara Ventures, and Coinbase Institute. The two-day symposium is on-site and open to invited guests.

However, the organiser will also open virtual participation to all who are interested and complete a registration form on ISBA the website.
