Biden news: Trump hosts GOP leader to discuss 2022, as president defends executive orders

Donald Trump and House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy met in Florida to discuss retaking the House in 2022, suggesting the president won't create his own 'Patriot Party' to rival the GOP.

The former president's support comes amid a "mass exodus" of 30,000 members leaving Republican party following the Capitol riot, according to a new report.

As the Department of Homeland Security warns of a "heightened threat environment", Congress has tabled a motion to expel Marjorie Taylor Greene over her behavior on social media.

The White House, meanwhile, is defending Joe Biden's rapid use of executive orders in his first week as president. Asked how unliterally governing through executive order achieved unity press secretary Jen Psaki said the president was fulfilling his election promise to help the American people – including overturning “immoral” actions of the Trump administration.
